Question:283 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the progress to date in establishing a new transmitter station in the north Monaghan area. [15135/96]
Written Answers. - County Monaghan Transmitter Station.
I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 83 of 13 December 1995 (columns 1480 and 1481 of the Official Report for that date refer).
The issue raised by the Deputy is the responsibility of the RTÉ Authority and I have no statutory function in the matter. For the Deputy's information, RTÉ reports that it has located a transmitter site on the eastern side of Slieve Beagh. As this site is in a high amenity area of County Monaghan, RTÉ intend to have discussions with the County Manager before applying for planning permission.
