Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Piped Water Supply.

Edward Nealon

Question:

325 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment the number of dwelling houses in County Sligo that will be without a piped water supply after the current group water schemes and other developments already under way or for funds have been sanctioned are completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15142/96]

According to the 1991 Census of Population, the number of households without a piped water supply in County Sligo was 539. A further 2.283 households depended on private sources (other than group schemes or public supplies).

Since 1991, some 900 households have been served with a piped water supply under the group water scheme programme, and about 400 further households will be served when group schemes currently under construction are completed.

Information on the number of households now without a piped supply is not available in my Department; definitive information on this will not be available until the next census.
