Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Architects' Register.

Mary Harney

Question:

330 Miss Harney asked the Minister for the Environment whether he is currently compiling a list for a register of architects; if so, the criteria used for entry onto such a list; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15234/96]

It was decided in 1990 to seek an amendment of the Architect's Directive (85/384/EEC) to extend the protection of the Directive to persons who are not currently covered but who, prior to the commencement of the Directive, had been pursuing architectural activities the nature and importance of which give those persons an established right to pursue those actitities throughout the EU. Applications were invited at the end of 1993 from such persons and these are currently being considered by a review panel appointed for the purpose.
