Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Group Water Supply Schemes.

John O'Leary

Question:

332 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for the Environment the steps, if any, he takes to ensure that there is adequate funding available to the organisers of group water supply schemes to enable county councils to adequately restore roads to an acceptable standard when the group water supply scheme works are completed. [15236/96]

Where costs in relation to road restoration are submitted by county councils in respect of a group water supply scheme, these are included in the overall cost of the scheme. Grant allocations are calculated on the basis of a maximum of 75 per cent of the cost of the scheme, or £1,600 per eligible domestic supply and £1,200 per eligible farm supply, whichever is the lesser.
