Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Graiguenamanagh (Kilkenny) Sewerage Scheme.

Liam Aylward

Question:

362 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the exact sequence of events and the current position concerning the location of the proposed sewage treatment works at Graiguenamanagh, County Kilkenny, in view of his recent communication with Kilkenny County Council in respect of the different positions stated therein in view of his reply to a parliamentary question raised by Deputy Aylward of 25 June 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15653/96]

The preliminary report for the Graiguenamanagh sewerage scheme was approved in August 1993. In February 1996, Kilkenny County Council proposed to relocate the treatment works but this proposal was not accepted by my Department at the time. More recently, the council made a further submission on the matter to my Department and, having had the matter examined, I am asking the council to amend the contract documents to provide for an alternative location for the works.
