Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Financial Settlements.

Mary Harney

Question:

373 Miss Harney asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of any financial settlements or extraordinary severance arrangements entered into with civil servants in his Department or with public servants in State agencies under the aegis of his Department. [15869/96]

No such settlements or arrangements have been entered into with civil servants in my Department since my appointment in December 1994.

In the case of State agencies the following is the position:—

Local Government Staff Negotiations Board

In prospect of a restructuring of the board, under which health and local government operations were to separate, the chief executive officer decided to accept early retirement from 31 December 1995; this was approved in accordance with the Local Government (Early Retirement and Voluntary Redundancy) (Supperannuation) Scheme, 1992, and a superannuation award was made based on a salary which was personal to the officer concerned.

An Bord Pleanála

A staff member was granted an early retirement package which was in line with arrangements under public service pension schemes.
