Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tramore (Waterford) Sewage Treatment Plant.

Martin Cullen

Question:

377 Mr. Cullen asked the Minister for the Environment his views on whether the outflow pipe at Saleens, Tramore, County Waterford, for the new sewerage treatment plant is acceptable; and if not, if he will seek a revised plan from Waterford County Council. [15955/96]

The environmental impact statement for this scheme, which was certified by my predecessor in 1992, indicated that the outflow pipe at Saleens-Rinnashark for the proposed treatment plant is environmentally acceptable. I am aware, however, that a number of options in relation to the outfall pipe have been considered by Waterford County Council in the context of applying for a foreshore licence from the Department of the Marine. When a decision on that application has been made the plans for the outfall pipe can be considered further.
