James Leonard

Question:

8 Mr. Leonard asked the Taoiseach the reports, if any, he has received from the agencies administering funding in the Border regions in regard to the progress to date. [15393/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 7 and 8 together The Task Force on Funding Arrangements in the Border region received reports from all Government Departments involved in funding programmes in the Border region. The Government considered the report of the Task Force at its meeting on 17 July 1996.

The recommendations contained in the report were agreed by the Government. These recommendations will assist applicants for funds under the programmes available, ensure that people generally are aware of the funding programmes and ensure that they are aware of the projects which are being funding under the programmes. The Government also agreed that arrangements should be put in place for information sharing and to ensure complementarity across programmes. Arrangements are being made to have the report published.
