Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Northern Ireland Marches.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

9 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Taoiseach whether the issue of the marching season was raised during his conversations with Mr. David Trimble in the past; if so, the commitments, if any, that were made or agreements reached as to the way in which they should be handled; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15410/96]

The whole issue of parades and marches is one to which the Government have been giving the closest of attention. I discussed this issue in a general way with Mr. David Trimble, MP some months ago. The question of commitments or agreements, however, did not arise at that time.
