Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Inch (Tipperary) National School.

Michael Smith

Question:

398 Mr. M. Smith asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that Inch national school, Thurles, County Tipperary retains the services of a third assistant teacher. [14956/96]

As the Deputy is aware, the staffing of a national school for a particular year is determined by the enrolment of the school on the 30 September of the previous year.

The enrolment of Inch national school on the 30 September 1995 was 89 pupils. This enrolment warrants a staffing of a principal and two assistant teachers for the 1996-97 school year. Accordingly, the third assistant's post, which was sanctioned on a temporary basis for the 1995-96 school year, has been suppressed.
