Question:454 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the extension to a primary school (details supplied) in County Cork; and if the necessary funding will be provided to ensure commencement of the works by the 1996/1997 school year. [15281/96]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 414 and 454 together.
I am not yet in a position to give a firm date as to when construction will commence on the extension to the school referred to by the Deputy.
Due to the current level of contractual commitments on the primary school capital programme, it is not possible to allow tenders to be invited immediately.
I wish to assure the Deputy that every effort is being made to ensure that the project can proceed at the earliest opportunity.
