Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Wexford National Schools.

Hugh Byrne

Question:

434 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the roof at Ramsgrange national school, County Wexford was to be replaced during the summer holiday period; if this programme of work is on course to commence; the cost of the works; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15167/96]

A grant has been sanctioned by my Department for works to the roof of Ramsgrange national school. Contract documentation for the job is currently being completed and the project should proceed to tender stage within the next fortnight. It would not be prudent of me to publicise a cost estimate for the work in advance of the competitive tendering process.

Question:

435 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the difficulties with the condition of and space in Ballycullane national school, County Wexford; if so, when she proposes to resolve the problem; when works will be completed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15168/96]

I am aware of the conditions at Ballycullane national school and, for this reason, I included extension of the school in my Department's capital programme. The school has appointed its own architect for the project and work is proceeding on the preparation of sketch plans. As the project is at an early planning stage, I cannot say when the work will be undertaken.
