Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Assistance for Full-Time Dance Students.

Micheál Martin

Question:

461 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education whether she will provide funding assistance for full-time dance students in Ireland; and if so, if she will provide funding in respect of the 1996/1997 academic year to a person (details supplied) in County Cork who is attending a professional ballet school in Ireland. [15316/96]

Eligibility for grant assistance for full-time study at third level is determined under the provisions of the student support schemes. As the college which the student attends, the Gibson Madden School of Dance, is not an approved institution for the purposes of the third level student support schemes the student concerned is not eligible for grant aid in respect of her attendance there.
