Question:468 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Education when construction will commence on the proposed new school at Allen, Kilmeague, County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15359/96]

A major building project at Allen national school, Kilmeague, County Kildare, is included in my Department's capital building programme. My Department's architectural staff recently completed the working drawings for the project and a quantity surveyor has been engaged to prepare a cost plan and a bill of quantities. In the meantime, my Department will begin the pre-qualification tender process by placing an advertisement in the national press inviting contractors who are interested in tendering for the project to apply to my Department. At this stage, it is not possible to say when construction will commence on the project.
