Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Midleton (Cork) School.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

486 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education when approval will issue to Whitegate national school, Midleton, County Cork, for a general purpose room which is urgently needed. [15496/96]

Due to the current level of contractual commitments on the Primary Capital Programme, it is not possible to provide grant assistance towards a general purpose room at Whitegate national school. While I am anxious to extend the provision of general purpose facilities in primary schools, the pace at which this can be achieved will be dictated by the financial resources available and the priority must remain the provision of essential classroom accommodation.
