Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Kilmessan (Westmeath) School.

Mary Wallace

Question:

539 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the reason her Department has not paid a person (details supplied) for a fire alarm which was installed in Kilmessan National School in County Meath in April 1995, and which was inspected by her Department's clerk of works and passed for payment in June 1995; and when this payment will be made. [15962/96]

The fire alarm was installed at Kilmessan National School by the sub-contractor named by the Deputy. Under the terms of the contract, payments are routed through the main contractor on the school project.

It appears that some confusion has arisen over payments previously made by my Department to the main contractor and these payments are now being checked by my professional staff.

I expect that the matter will be resolved very shortly.
