Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Crimes against Tourists.

Tony Killeen

Question:

553 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Justice the number of crimes against tourists which have been reported in each region to date in 1996. [15771/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information sought by the Deputy is not yet available. Provisional figures for 1995 show that there were 3,629 crimes recorded in which tourists were the injured parties. This number represents about 0.1 per cent of the tourists that visited this country.
