Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Liquor Licensing Laws.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

555 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Justice the views, if any, she has on the suggestion from the Dublin City Centre Business Association in relation to the licensing laws (details supplied). [16139/96]

I have no plans at present to amend the liquor licensing laws. However, as the Deputy will be aware, the Select Committee on Legislation and Security is currently of its own initiative reviewing all aspects of the licensing laws. I understand that the committee is at present accepting submissions from interested parties. It would therefore not be appropriate for me to anticipate this report by commenting on individual suggestions at this stage. When the committee has published its report, I intend to examine it in detail and to give consideration to its recommendations. Any proposals, legislative or otherwise, which I might then have arising from this study, will be prepared and announced in the usual way following consultations with interested groups.
