Written Answers. - County Tipperary Garda Stations.

Michael Smith

Question:

558 Mr. M. Smith asked the Minister for Justice the current position with regard to the provision of a new Garda Station at Templemore, County Tipperary. [14953/96]

It has been concluded that it may be possible to satisfy the accommodation needs at Templemore Garda Station by building an extension. The Office of Public Works are accordingly preparing a sketch scheme on this basis which will determine if requirements can be met in this way. It is expected that this sketch scheme will be available shortly.

Question:

559 Mr. M. Smith asked the Minister for Justice the current position with regard to the provision of a new Garda Station at Thurles, County Tipperary. [14954/96]

It is proposed to build an extension to Thurles Garda Station and to refurbish the existing building. At present I am awaiting the provision of a cost plan from the Office of Public Works for the project.
