621 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the total number of applications made to the District Court in each of the past ten years pursuant to the Children's Act, 1908 and the Child Care Act, 1991, by a health board seeking to take a child into care; the total number and type or care orders made in each of the past ten years; and the total number of children in respect of whom such orders have been sought. [15669/96]
The statistics sought by the Deputy in so far as they are available are set out as follows. A breakdown of the type of care orders made and the total number of children in respect of whom such orders were sought is not kept. The statistics in respect of the year 1995-96 will be compiled when the legal year ends on 31 July 1996 and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as they become available.
