Question:653 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the total cost of the provision of recreational facilities available to prisoners in 1995; the estimated cost in 1996; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15736/96]
Written Answers. - Prison Recreational Facilities.
Total expenditure on recreation equipment and materials amounted to £0.275 million in 1995. This figure covers a wide range of items from televisions to physical education equipment. It does not include any element in respect of staffing costs, as it would not be feasible to differentiate those costs from the overall staffing costs of the institutions. The provision in the 1996 Estimate is £0.277 million.
