Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Student Summer Jobs Scheme.

Declan Bree

Question:

764 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason his Department rejected an application to participate in the student summer jobs scheme which was submitted by a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15939/96]

The student summer job scheme provides income support for less well off third level students who are debarred from qualifying for unemployment assistance during the summer months by virtue of the provisions of section 126 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993. The application of the person concerned has been examined and she does not qualify for the scheme. Her weekly means substantially exceed the current qualifying limit.
