The Foreign Earnings Committee is responsible for co-ordinating and enhancing the effectiveness of overseas representations of Ireland's economic and business interests. In this connection, matters considered by the committee have included improving inter-agency co-operation through market-based co-ordinated committees; plans for offical representation overseas including the "Ireland House" concept; projects related to the projection of Ireland's image overseas; co-ordination of ministerial and other high-level visits to the marketplace; consideration of the merits of Ireland's representation at international trade events; and the greater use of diplomatic missions in foreign earnings promotion. The following organisations are represented on the Foreign Earnings Committees — the Department of Tourism and Trade, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, the Department of Enterprise and Employment, An Bord Tráchtála, Bord Fáilte, An Bord Bia, the Industrial Development Authority and the Shannon Free Airport Development Company.
