Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Irish Beef Promotion.

Brian Cowen

Question:

797 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the non-EU countries, if any, he has visited since 20 March 1996, to promote Irish beef; the dates of such visits; the number and position of the officials who accompanied him; the plans, if any, he has for such visits in the future; if so, the dates of such future visits; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16117/96]

While none of my visits to non-EU countries since 20 March has had as its primary objective the promotion of Irish beef, I have in the course of my contacts with Ministers and senior officials of foreign governments taken every appropriate opportunity to stress the quality and wholesomeness of Irish beef and I will continue to do so in my future contacts with representatives of non-EU countries.
