Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Meeting with Compassion in World Farming Group.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

861 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will agree to meet personally with a delegation from the Compassion in World Farming Group in order to discuss ways to improve the welfare standards for farm animals; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15396/96]

Officials of my Department met representatives of the Compassion in World Farming Group (CIWF) twice in recent weeks and on several occasions prior to that. Further such meetings can be arranged if required. Due to my heavy work schedule I would have difficulty in meeting personally with the CIWF in the near future.
