Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Noel Treacy

Question:

926 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the amount of money made available in each of the years 1995 and 1996 for private bog development, including drainage, roads, bridges and ditching; if he will include funding in respect of this development in the Estimates and in the budget of 1997; if so, the amount to be so included; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15564/96]

The 1995 budget for the private bog development grant scheme was £200,000 which proved sufficient to cover all outstanding claims. A further £50,000 was provided and paid in 1996 to cover the administration costs of Bord na Móna. The scheme is not finalised and there are no plans to re-introduce it or a similar scheme. Accordingly, no provision has been made for further grant aid in 1997.
