A three year fishery harbour capital development programme, from 1997 to 1999, is being prepared and the case for assistance for Aughris pier will be considered in that context. Funding for fishery harbour development under the fisheries operational programme is very limited. Only projects which demonstrate a significant potential return from the fisheries perspective are grant aided under the programme.
