Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Funding for Physiotherapist.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

227 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Health when he will provide funding for a physiotherapist at a centre (details supplied) in Dublin 6 which some months ago acquired a hydrotherapy pool partly financed by his Department; his views on whether the pool will be efficiently used for its purpose in the absence of a qualified person; whether the provision of a physiotherapist has been promised for some time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16624/96]

Limerick East): My Department has not received an application for approval for a physiotherapist post for St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Unit. I have been advised that the board of management of Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross, is currently considering a submission from the head of physiotherapy in relation to service developments at the hospice, including the staffing requirements for the recently completed hydrotherapy pool at St. Joseph's Unit and that it is intended that proposals will be submitted to my Department next month which will address the overall requirements of the services provided by the hospice.
