Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Delay in Hospital Admission.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

251 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Health if he will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who needs an operation and who has been informed by the authorities in Tullamore Hospital, County Westmeath that it cannot facilitate him due to health cutbacks. [16829/96]

Limerick East): In all cases, appointments for medical treatment are allocated on the basis of medical priority. I am advised that the person concerned has been placed on a waiting list, but that the hospital is not in a position, at this time, to give an exact date of admission.

If the person concerned feels that his condition has deteriorated since he was last reviewed or warrants more urgent attention then he should contact his general practitioner who would be in the best position to take up the matter with the consultant concerned.
