Written Answers. - Centre for Independent Living.

Mary Wallace

Question:

265 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Health the amount of funding made available to the Centre for Independent Living by his Department in 1996 and in each of the previous two years; and whether they will receive at least this amount in 1996. [16902/96]

Limerick East): As part of the transfer in 1995 of the voluntary grants scheme to my Department from the Department of Social Welfare, I gave a commitment to pay an ongoing annual grant of £50,000 to the Centre for Independent Living to fund its core activities. This is paid to CIL through the Eastern Health Board.

A grant of £60,000 from lottery funds was also paid to the centre in 1996 for its vantastic scheme of accessible transport for the disabled.
