328 Miss Harney asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to release funding to South Dublin County Council to allow the commencement of the work to upgrade the sewerage scheme in Newcastle, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16328/96]
The upgrading of the sewerage scheme in Newcastle is part of the Saggart/Rathcoole/Newcastle drainage scheme. This scheme will form part of an application for Cohesion funding to be submitted to the EU later this year. Pending a decision on this application, I cannot say when funding can be made available for the Newcastle scheme.
