Seán Power

Question:

478 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Justice the number of children in the Republic of Ireland who have gone missing and are still missing over the last ten years; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16246/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 477 and 478 together.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that information in relation to missing persons is published in the Garda Commissioner's Annual Report on Crime, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. I am further informed that in relation to the period 1986-95, one person who was under 18 years of age when reported missing and sixty-six persons who were aged 18 years and over are still listed as officially missing.
