Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Amendment of Companies Bill.

Michael Ahern

Question:

597 Mr. M. Ahern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment when he intends publishing the Companies (Amendment) Bill, to introduce the recommendation in the Small Business Task Force and the recommendation of the Company Law Review Group regarding the audit of companies with less than a turnover of £100,000. [16759/96]

Proposals for the implementation of the company law review group recommendations relating to examinership and the removal of the statutory audit requirement for certain companies with a turnover of less than £100,000 are currently under consideration by my colleague, Minister of State, Deputy Pat Rabbitte, who has responsibility for company law matters. It is proposed to deal with both issues in the one Bill, and having regard to this and the other steps that will have to be taken before the Bill can be published, I am not yet in a position to indicate when that will be.
