Question:

618 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of applications received in counties Monaghan and Cavan for control of farmyard pollution scheme and REP scheme; the number of applications approved in each county; the number of people awaiting payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16293/96]

There have been 1,059 and 700 applications for the control of farm pollution scheme in respect of counties Cavan and Monaghan. Of these 653 and 470 have been fully processed with approvals issued in respect of 610 and 437 respectively. All the remaining applicants have been written to requesting additional information, in line with procedures introduced last September, and responses are awaited.

To date 143 payments have been made in County Cavan and 251 in County Monaghan. A further 27 and 16 respectively have been approved for payment on the basis that the grant will be paid in 1997.

To date 806 and 500 applications for the REP scheme have been received in respect of Counties Cavan and Monaghan respectively. Of these 801 and 384 have been approved for payment with payments actually made to 758 and 366 respectively.
