Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - REP Scheme Criteria.

Tony Killeen

Question:

631 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the criteria which applies to jointly-owned farms in relation to the REP scheme and the control of farmyard pollution scheme, which does not apply if the farm is in the ownership of the husband only in the case of a wife having an off-farm income. [16579/96]

I am happy to inform the Deputy that off-farm income is not a consideration in the context of an application under the REP scheme.

In so far as the control of farm pollution scheme is concerned the position is that in the case of joint ownership the eligibility criteria need be met only by the applicant identified as the farm operator.
Accordingly, where one spouse operates a farm and the other has an off-farm income, this off-farm income is not an issue in determining eligibility.
