Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Tony Killeen

Question:

642 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of farmers in County Clare who are still awaiting a first REP scheme payment; and the number of farmers who had an inspection prior to the first or second payment.[16871/96]

To date, 1,151 farmers have been approved for first year payments for REPS in County Clare. A further 71 farmers have applied but have not yet been approved for payment under the scheme.

Five per cent of all applicants for the scheme are randomly selected for a full pre-payment check, including an on-farm inspection. In County Clare 36 farmers were selected for this check in the context of their initial applications for the scheme.

Prior to all second year payments made to date, participants have been subjected to compliance checks to ensure that the planned undertakings have been met. To date 96 farmers in County Clare have been approved for second year REPS payment. In addition, 11 participants who applied for second year payments have been selected for a full pre-payment check, including an on-farm inspection.
