643 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the dates of all meetings of the interdepartmental committee established by the Government in July 1996 to examine the feasibility of building a national incinerator; the progress to date in this regard; when it is intended that the feasibility or otherwise of a national incinerator will be established; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The terms of reference of the interdepartmental committee, which was established by the Government on 1 August 1996, is to examine all options with regard to the disposal of slaughterhouse waste material in particular categories of material which cannot be incorporated into animal feed. The committee has met on three occasions—28 August, 10 September and 19 September 1996. It is anticipated that the committee will deliver its report to the Government in early October.
