Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - EU Presidency.

Ivor Callely

Question:

682 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine if he will give details of the programme of meetings and dinner functions he intends to host in Ireland for the EU Council of Ministers in the context of Ireland's Presidency of the EU; the venues for such functions; the numbers attending; the basis on which the venue was chosen; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16692/96]

I have no plans to host any collective meetings or dinner functions in Ireland for EU Ministers during Ireland's Presidency of the EU. I hosted a dinner function on 23 September in connection with an EU/G7 countries conference on MARIS (Maritime Information Society initiative) co-sponsored by the Marine Institute and the European Commission in Dublin on 24 September. I have had a series of bilateral meetings with Ministers from other member states at my offices in Dublin and in EU capitals. Further such bilateral meetings will take place in order to progress Presidency business.
