130 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Finance if he intends to introduce legislation to enable the Revenue Commissioners to de-register vehicles which were registered prior to 1 January 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16318/96]
I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that they receive requests to change registration numbers for a wide variety of reasons. To maintain the integrity of the register it has not been the practice to accede to such requests. It is understood that the practice of the previous registration authority, prior to 1993, was likewise. There are no current proposals to introduce legislation to facilitate such changes.
