Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Examination Appeals Procedure.

Micheál Martin

Question:

109 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education if her Department has investigated a complaint from a student (details supplied) in County Kildare concerning an appeal against a third-level examination result; if so, the conclusions of such an investigation; her views on this case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17164/96]

My Department has no function in the day-to-day operational affairs of any third level institution.

Nevertheless I have had inquiries made in the matter and I understand that the student referred to by the Deputy has availed of the appeals procedure in the college concerned and that the appeal was unsuccessful.
