131 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education if she will give urgent sanction to and ensure the commencement of the construction of the proposed extension and refurbishment of science laboratories in Ardscoil Rís secondary school, Griffith Avenue, Dublin 9, in view of the severe overcrowding problems being experienced at the school; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Architectural planning for a permanent extension to Ardscoil Rís, Griffith Avenue, is currently under way. Stage 4, detailed design, of architectural planning of this project has been submitted to my Department. This submission is being evaluated at present. The question of proceeding to construction will be considered in light of available resources on successful completion of the architectural planning process.
I am aware that an application has been made for the refurbishment of the science laboratories at Ardscoil Rís. It is hoped that this project will be proceeded with as soon as financial provisions allow.
