Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Welfare of Children.

Michael Ring

Question:

135 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education the person(s) responsible for the welfare of children when they are awaiting the school bus when school has finished. [17339/96]

In general, school authorities owe a duty of care towards children attending school. It is a matter for the authorities of each individual school to make any necessary arrangements to discharge this duty of care.

The responsibility for the welfare of children who are awaiting a school bus after school will depend upon the circumstances in each case.
