154 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if there are any grants or fees available from her Department in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who will attend university in England in the near future to pursue teacher training. [17482/96]
The extension of means tested maintenance grants to students pursuing third level courses in Britain specifically excluded courses which are the subject of a quota in Ireland. Teacher training is among the courses which are subject to a quota in Ireland. The student referred to by the Deputy is, therefore, ineligible for grant aid.
