Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - REPS Payment.

Michael Ring

Question:

204 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid the second instalment of his REP scheme payment in view of the fact that he is in severe financial difficulty. [17194/96]

The person concerned applied for his second year payment under the REP scheme. However, under revised monitoring and control procedures implemented by my Department a random 5 per cent check of all second year payments is carried out. This check is a detailed assessment of all aspects of the plan and will also include an on farm inspection.

A check will be carried out on the applicant's farm shortly and assuming that all is in order payment will issue as soon as possible thereafter.
