Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Decentralisation.

Mary Wallace

Question:

215 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of jobs from his Department which were decentralised in each of the past 15 years on a county basis; and the location to which the jobs were transferred on a county basis. [17454/96]

It is not possible to obtain figures on the number of jobs in my Department which have been decentralised in each of the past 15 years. However, of the total staffing complement of 4,041, 2,803 are head-quartered outside Dublin as set out in the following table.

A sizeable majority of these staff would have been assigned to these regional locations at some time within the past 15 years. Of the areas cited, Counties Mayo, Cavan and Laois have participated in previous decentralisation programmes and the initial numbers of staff assigned to the decentralised buildings at these locations are set out in the following table.
