Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Child Care Resources.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

50 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health the resources, if any, he intends to put in place to deal with child abuse in this country. [17373/96]

Additional resources totalling £35 million on an annualised basis have been allocated to the development of child care services since 1993. While considerable progress has been made, I accept that there are still unmet needs. To this end, the Government recently approved a new child care programme for the years 1996-99, the financial details of which are being examined in the context of the 1997 Estimate.
