Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Geriatric Home Development.

John Browne

Question:

51 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for Health when the South-Eastern Health Board will commence development works to develop Ely House Wexford, as a geriatric home; and if the top floor could become operational immediately in order to facilitate urgent cases. [17377/96]

Limerick East): The South-Eastern Health Board purchased Ely Hospital for the purposes of developing services for the elderly in County Wexford. A project team has been established to oversee the development of Ely as a facility for the elderly. The project team is examining how best to refurbish Ely House to provide the best in modern facilities for the care of the elderly.

The board assures me that it is committed to utilising Ely House as a centre for the elderly as soon as possible.
