Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Decentralisation.

Mary Wallace

Question:

65 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the number of jobs from his Department which were decentralised in each of the past 15 years on a county basis; and the location to which the jobs were transferred on a county basis. [17457/96]

There has been no decentralisation of jobs in my Department since it was constituted in January 1993.

However, a number of jobs currently exist outside Dublin in the Legal Aid Board, a body under the aegis of my Department. The Legal Aid Board has 27 full-time law centres, 20 of these are located in provincial areas. Also, the family mediation service of my Department has recently opened a mediation centre at Limerick.
