45 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction a project (details supplied) in County Galway; if so when; if she has considered all aspects of this situation; the amount of money to be allocated in this regard; the buildings to be provided; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Last December I asked that an independent report and recommendation be obtained regarding the future post-primary developments for the centre in question, having regard to the need to maximise the educational opportunities available to second level pupils in the area.
This report was received in June and an assessment of its recommendations has been carried out by my Department. I expect to be in a position to give a decision in the matter in the near future. When the decision is taken, my Department will contact the management of the school referred to by the Deputy to progress the matter.
