Vol. 469 No. 5

Written Answers. - Child Placement Allowance.

Tony Gregory

Question:

102 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7, whose grandchild was fostered and subsequently placed in her care, is entitled to an allowance under the Child Care (Placement of Children with Relatives) Regulation, 1995. [17843/96]

I understand that this child was never in the care of the Eastern Health Board and that the placement was a private family arrangement. Allowances paid under the Child Care (Placement of Children with Relatives) Regulations, 1995 are made in respect of children who are in the care of health boards and where the provisions of the regulations are met. The Eastern Health Board has indicated that if the person in question wishes to seek advice in the matter, she should contact their social work service in Benburb Street Health Centre.
